Duncan M'Ilfun in Polfuill, Kilfinan, 1686 (Argyll). John M'Fun in Soccoth in Stracher, 1694 (Argyll Inv), John M'Funie in Stracher parish, 1695 (Argyll), and Adam M'Phunn in the parish of Inveray, 1762 (Kilbarchan). The name of Andrew Macpuhan, an exiled Covenanter from Kirkcudbright, 1679 (Hanna, II, p. 254), may be an error for Macphun. W. R. M'Phun was the Glasgow publisher of Macleod and Dewar's Gaelic dictionary, 1853.
