MACWHIR, Macwhirr, Macquhir: William Makwir was deacon of the curriers in Dumfries, 1600 (Edgar, p. 248). A charge was made against Robert McWheir in Grange, 1671 (Just. Rec., II, p. 60). Callum M'Ouhir appears in Kenmore, 1684 (DPD., I, p. 488), and John McWhir was minister of St. Andrew's church, Dunfermline, 1810-13 (Fasti, III, p. 573). M'Kerlie has the name as MacQuhir or MacQhuir.
