Hugh de Meche, Normandy 1180-95 (Magni Rotuli Scaccarii Normanniae); Henry Mache, Engl. c. 1272 (Rotuli Hundredorum).
In 1730, Thomas Meech, M. D., came into possession of the manor of Little Bridy: during last century the same family held estates in Charminster and Stratton, and were patrons of the living of Long Bridy (H.).
