William Melros, a native of Scotland, had licence to enjoy any benefice in England under the dignity of a deanery in 1468 (Bain, IV, 1378). David Melros held a land in Edinburgh in 1531 (Soltre, p. 269), William Melross appears as, a monk of Inchaffray in 1554 and 1564 (Inchaffray, p. XCIX), and John Melros was burgess of Selkirk in 1590 (RPC., IV, p. 481.)
