William Melmaker held part of the vill of Portyncrag in 1453, and John Melmaker was perpetual vicar of the parish church of Aythin in 1489 (RAA., II, p. 82,261). George Mealmaker, a Dundee weaver, received a sentence of fourteen years transportation on a charge of sedition.
