MINDRUM: Adam of Myndrum, burgess of Roxburgh, rendered homage in 1296 (Bain, II, 820). In the same year Giles de Myndrom petitioned the king of England's justices at Berwick for return of the fishings which had been leased to him by the Carmelite Friars of Rosteneth and taken from him on the surrender of the town (ibid., p. 228). Certain lands and burgages which had belonged to quondam Ade de Mindrome in the vills of Roxburghe, Kerton, etc., were granted to Hugh de le Vikeres, c. 1315 (RMS., I, 14), Egidus de Mundrum, perhaps the Giles de Myndrom mentioned above, was bailie of Berwick in 1324 (Cambus., p. 39, 40), and Alan de Mindrome, burgess of Roxburgh, appears as a witness, c. 1330 (Kelso, p. 369). John of Mindrom and Alan of Myndrom were jurors on an inquest taken at Roxburgh in 1357 (Bain, IV, 1). From Mindrim or Mindrum in Northumberland, near Yetholm.
