George Mirk possessed a tenement in Glasgow, 1458 (REG., p. 392). Jok Merk and Hobe Merk were tenants on lands of the Abbey of Kelso, 1567 (Kelso, p. 520,521), James Merk was tenant under the marquis of Huntlie, 1600 (SCM., IV, p. 269), and Anna Mirk, daughter of Mr. James Mirk, minister, is in record, 1689 (RPC., 3. ser. XIV, p. 271). John Mirk, marine engineer, died in Edinburgh, 1941.
