The earliest references to this name, as with Malison, confine it to Aberdeen. Thomas Mollysone was town clerk of Aberdeen in 1589 (CAB., p. 355). Walter Molysoun was retoured heir of John Mollysoun of Lachintullie, his father, in 1617 (Retours, Aberdeen, 152), Francis Mollison was member of parliament for Brechin, 1685 (Hanna, II, p. 506), and Mr. Mollyson was master of the Music School of Old Aberdeen, 1736. David Molyson (17891834), poet, was born in Fife. Mollisoun 1599, Molliesone.
