Henry Mowse, vicar ministrant in Glasgow, 1475 (LCD., p. 254), and Michael Mowse or Mous was merchant in Glasgow, 1591 (Protocols, x). Archibald Moysie in Westshiell, parish of Camwath, 1624, and John Mosie, merchant in Lanark, 1690 (Lanark CR.). David Moysie was author of Memoirs of the affairs of Scotland, 1577-1603. Robert Mosie, hammerman in the Caltone, Edinburgh, c. 1685 (PSAS., LIV, p. 243), and the name of George Moos in Johnheaven, 1678 (Edin. App.), is perhaps another spelling. Recorded in Edinburgh, 1940. compare Moyses.
