Nicholas dictus Moyses de Bondyngton made a grant to the Abbey of Kelso in 1307 (Kelso, 42), and as Nicholaus dictus Moyses, son and heir of quondam Ade dictus Moyses, resigned land and pertinents in the vill and territory of Bondyngtone into the king's hands c. 1318 (RMS., I, 9). William Moyses held land in Irvine, 1323 (Irvine, I, p. 123), William Moyses was witness in Aberdeen, 1483 and 1491 (CRA., p. 413; REA., I, p. 329), and Alexander Moyses was admitted burgess there, 1440 (NSCM., I, p. 6). The surname is found through a long tract of time among the burgesses of Aberdeen, and is still current as Moses. compare Moyes.
