(1) 'of Murcot,' a hamlet in the parish of Charlton - upon - Otmoor, Oxfordshire; (a) 'of Morcott,' a parish in Rutland; (3) 'of Murcott,' a hamlet in the parishes of Long Buckby and Watford, Northamptonshire. But such a local name as the Moorcot, i.e. the cottage on the moor, no doubt arose in several places; compare Moorhouse.
