If you translate directly to the English language it is "Bambooville" or "Bamboo-village", its literal meaning is "The one who comes from a bamboo village". This is so, because as according to the oral tradition handed over for generation in our clan is that our fore-fathers and fore-mothers were chased by a wild tiger, they were saved from the tiger because there was a bamboo forest and the tiger was not able to directly attack our ancestors. Though it waited for weeks, our ancestors were sustained by the water from the bamboos and they also ate bamboo-shoots which saved them from starvation. Eventually, the tiger left and so our ancestors as a mark of gratitude to the bamboo-forest, promised that they as a clan will never eat any bamboo-shoots to commemorate their deliverance from the tiger. So, even now also most of my clan do not eat bamboo-shoots, but some who wants to break the tradition they do - and they themselves have to take the blame when any thing out of the ordinary happens usually bad things. Some, their businesses are not growing, others have no offspring, and still others suffers from many diseases, etc.
