William Nory, subprior of St. Andrews, c. 1400 ( Wyntoun, bk. IX. c. xx) is probably William Nory, canon of St. Andrews cathedral, 1415. Anny Nory is recorded in Aberdeen, 1408 (CWA., p. 314), and William Nory leased Ledcassy in Angus, 1443 (Cupar-Angus, I, p. 119). John Nory was the king's chaplain in Kirkwall, 1460 (Diplomotarium Norvegicum, V, p. 599), and Walter Nore, notary in Strathendrick, 1480 (Strothendrick, 194). Thomas Nory and James Nory were urgesses of Edinburgh, 1482 (Neubotle, 304). Patrick Nory had remission in 1489 for his part in holding Dumbarton Castle against the king (APS., XII, p. 34), Arthur Norye, witness in Perth, 1547 (Rollok 16), and Alexander Noray was rector of Feme, 1589 (REB., II, 228).
