John Norvaile and George Norvil are recorded in Stirling in 1471 (Sc. Ant., X, p. 59, 60). Adam Norwald, witness in Perth, 1547 (Rollok, 16), William Norwell who was amerciat in Stirling in 1549 may be the William Norvell 'thesaurar of the burght of Striviling' in 1561 (SBR., p. 55, 77). William Norwell, perhaps the same person, represented Stirling in the Scottish parliament, 1568—86 (Foster, p. 275). John Norvell, burgess of Stirling, 1596 (Logie, I, p. 17).
