OGGA: A diminutive of some Old English doublestemmed name. Ogga was one of the witnesses to King Eadgar's charter of Swintun to the monks of S. Cuthbert of Coldingham, 1097-1107 (Nat. MSS., I, 4). As Oggo, Cumbrensis judex, he was one of the jurors who gave evidence regarding the lands of the Church of Glasgow, c. 1124 (REG., p. 5), and as Oggu he witnessed David's great charter of Holyrood, c. 1128 (LSC., p. 6). He may have been the Oggu, father of Gillandris, one of the perambulators of the boundaries of Clerchetune, c. 1141 (RPSA., p. 181,191).
