History has it that Onyenorah Elleh was one of the founding fathers of the present day Akatta. He was a British trained trader and a distributor of the Nigerian Tobacco Company and United African Company (UAC). His father, Okparaji, was the first son of Amankwo and the first grandson of Ezi Akatta. Onyenorah was a warrior, though he was prominent in the slave trade era, and he fought to defend his people throughout the period. He was a king-maker and was instrumental to the enthronement of Oluoha of Akatta. It is difficult to write the history of Akatta without Onyenorah and his descendants. His last son Martin Onuhaegbulem Onyenorah was instrumental to the civilization in Akatta community. He was a British trained missionary-teacher and the first teacher from Akatta. He fought to bring missionary schools to his people. He laid a solid educational foundation to his children and Akatta people. His children subsequently followed in his footsteps. His first son, Vincent I. M Onyenorah, was instrumental in bringing the First Bank Branch to Akatta when he was general manager of the bank in Nigeria. His second son, Godwin C. M Onyenorah, was instrumental to the majority of government projects in Akatta. He was one of the selfless politician that Akatta produced.
