The latter was Goldsmith to the Conqueror, and constructed his tomb of gold, silver, and precious stones (Ord. Vit.). William A., his son, occurs 1130 (Rot. Pip.), and 1165 William Fitz-Odo A. held a fief from the honour of Gloucester (Liber Niger). The name occurs 13th and 14th cent. in Southampton and Surrey (Testa de Neville), also in Hunts, Stafford, Oxford, Sussex, Kent, and changed to Orfevre, and Goldsmith.
