Thomas Orkney of Scodand was illegally arrested at Lowestoff, 1405 (Bain, IV, 690). John Orknay held land in Abbirbrothoc in 1457, and in 1478 Thomas Orkynay was witness in Perth (RAA., II, 111,202). Another Thomas Orkney was witness in Glenurquhay in 1552 (BBT., p. 197). Robert Orknay was retoured heir of his grandfather in lands in Aytoun, Berwickshire, 1634 (Retours, Berwick, 197). The name is also recorded in Edinburgh, 1640 (Edinb. Marr.). Orkynnay 1486.
