Apparently corrupt forms of Orlingbury, q.v. The surname occurs in the neighbourhood of Orlingbury.
In the reign of Edw. II. this name was spelt Orlebere. The family at Hinwick, co. Bedford, are not known to have had any possessions in the neighbouring village of Orlingbury, which, however, has been conjectured to be the origin of the surname.
