From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history
From the lands of Orrock in Fife. Symon de Oroc witnessed a quit claim by Johannes Gallard of the lands of Siwinis Keeth to the Abbey of Dunfermline, 1248 (RD., p. 97). Symon filius Simonis de Oroc with the consent of Robert, his son, and Freskinus, his brother, gave the abbot and convent of Dunfermelyn the lands called Muyoch and Cnokduuy in the tenement of Oroc (ibid., p. 117). Robert de Horock or Horok was juror on an inquisition on the lands of Disarde (now Dysart) in 1296, and was juror again in 1305 along with Simon de Horok (Bain, II, p. 216,450). Robert de Orrok and Symon de Orrok, both of Fife, rendered homage in 1296 (ibid., p. 204). Robert de Oroc or Orock and Symon, his son, attested the homage of Duncan, twelfth earl of Fife to the abbot of Dunfermline, 1316 (RD., p. 235). In 1513 there is record of a payment by David Arroc in Aberdeen (CRA., p. 83), and John Oraik in Craig Beath is mentioned, 1578 (Dunfermline). The lands of Orrock in Fife were sold about 1750 by Robert Orrock, and about 1800 the family bought land in Aberdeenshire which they named Orrock "in memoriam." Several of the name are mentioned in the Registrum de Dunfermelyn. Arrok 1536, Orack 1709, Qrok 1614, Orrack 1715.
