Richard de Orewell witnessed confirmation of a charter by Walter, bishop of Glasgow to the Hospital of Soltre, 1231 (Soltre, p. 29), and Johannes de Vrwell, one of an inquest in Aberdeen, 1342 (REA., I, 73), may be John of Urwell who had a confirmation of the lands of Drum near Pluscardy, 1343 (HMC., 6. Rep., App., p. 687). Andrew de Urwelle, son of Johannes de Urwelle, had a charter of lands of Samqware, Tulache, and Droni in 1362 (RMS., I, 119), and Johannes de Umel was juror on assize in 1389 regarding the mill lands of Quarelwode in Moray REM., p. 171). Andrew de Vrwel, juror on inquest at Nam, 1431 (Rose, p. 127), Robert Wrwell, juror on assize at Inverness, 1514 (OPS., II, p. 663), and James Uruell was 'reidare' at Rhynie, Aberdeenshire, 1576 (Macdonald, Place names in Strathbogie, p. 272).
