From Where Does The Surname Originate? meaning and history

Several individuals of this name appear as charter witnesses at the end of the twelfth and beginning of the thirteenth centuries, and then disappear from record. The name is derived from the old village of Partick in the parish of Govan, Lanarkshire. Walter, the son of Arnald de Parthec, witnessed a charter by Peter de Pulloc, c. 1177-99 (RMP., p. 98). Philip de Perthec witnessed permits to Robert Croc and Henry de Nes to build chapels for their private use, c. 1180 (ibid., p. 78), and c. 1189—99 Ernaldus de Pertec (the Arnald above) witnessed the grant by Helias filius Fulberti of the church of Mernes to the monks of Paisley (ibid., p. 100). Philip de Perthec witnessed a charter by Florence, bishop-elect of Glasgow, c. 120201 (ibid., p. 110), and about the same date as Philip de Pertaic he witnessed a charter by Thomas, son of Thancard, in favor of the Abbey of Aberbrothoc (RAA., I, p. 69). William de Perthec witnessed a charter by Walter, son of Alan, c. 1207-14, and as William de Parthik witnessed the gift by Walter the Steward, son of Alan, of churches to Paisley before 1228 (RMP, p. 19,225). Dominus Jocelin de Perthec witnessed a charter by Maldouen, earl of Lennox, to Robert Herthford, a. 1224 (ibid., p. 217).
