From the lands of Peaston near Keith Marischal, East Lothian. Richard fil. Michael de Paystoun granted to Soltre between 1180 and 1214 "quatuor bollas boni frumenti" in pure and perpetual alms, and within the same period he granted the lands of Paistoun to the same church (Soltre, p. 5, 8). Between 1214—49 Michael de Paistoun witnessed a charter in favor of Soltre, and between 1221-24 Helya de Paistoun witnessed a grant by Duncan de Swaynystoun to the same hospital (ibid., p. 19, 23). Alexander Pastone, burgess of Edinburgh, 1380 (Laing, 67). Jonet Paistoun in Dalkeith accused of witchcraft, 1661 (Trials, III, p. 601). John Peastone or Paistoune in Muslburgh, 1689 (RPC., 3. ser. XIV, p. 442,474).
