PENWEN: Thomas Penwen was perpetual vicar of the church of Wyston, 1406 (Kelso, 525). Thomas Penvyn, chaplain to Thomas, bishop of Orcaney (Orkney), 1441 (Bain, IV, 1150) is probably Thomas Penven, canon of the church of Glasgow, 1448 (REG., 352). Robert Pendven was rector of Sowdon (Southdean), 1455 (Melros, p. 583), and another Thomas Pendwen, canon of Glasgow, and John Pendwen of Sprouston, are charter witnesses in 1475 (Kelso, 532).
