David Perisone, mercator de Scotia, who had a safe conduct to travel through England in 1369 (ibid., III) may be the David filius Petri, custumar of Haddington, 1373, who appears again in 1375 as David Perysoun (ER., II, p. 599,469). Johannes Peryson appears in Aberdeen in 1408 (CWA., p. 313), and another John Peresone was bailie of Linhthqw in 1472 (Sc. Ant., XVII, p. 120). John Person leased part of Welton, 1440 (Cupar-Angus, I, p. 124), and John Perysoun, tenant in Grange of Balbrogy, 1468, appears again as John Perison or Peryson, tenant of Balbrogi, Chapeltoun, 1473 and 1478 (ibid., I, p. 143,180, 226). Thom Peirson was servitor of the Abbey of Arnbroath in 1506 (RAA., II, 449). Sir Henry Persone, vicar of Halkirk, 1537, appears to have been also known as Sir Henry Patersoun or Petersoun (OPS., II, 756,757). William Peirsond was one of those respited for the slaughter of John, erle of Cathnes in 1529 (RSS., II, 3151), John Peryson was tenant of Stobo, 1540 (Rental), and Johne Persoun and Sandie Peirsoun were tenants on lands of the Abbey of Kelso, 1567 (Kelso, p. 524). Robert Piriesoun was burgess of Crail in 1634 (Inquis., 2042), and Archibald Pierson was sheriff substitute of Forfar, 1642 (Jervise, I, p. 160). Macpherson was sometimes written M'A'Phearsain, and as the MacA' was sometimes dropped, the name (Pearsain) was likely to become merged in Pearson.
