This surname is derived from the name of an ancestor. —the son of Pim', diminutive Pimelot; compare Hewlett for Huelot (Hugh), &c. I have no proof of this statement. It is a name of Cheshire parentage. Of course the 'b' in Pimblett, is intrusive. In America a corrupted form, Pimlock, has sprung up; compare Glasscott and Glasscock.
