PITSCOTTIE: From the lands of Pitscottie in the parish of Ceres, Fife. John, son of Ralph de Petscotyn, rendered homage at Aberdeen in 1296 (Bain, II, p. 195). A horse was purchased from James de Petscoti, 1312 (Bain, III, p. 429). John de Petscoty, burgess of Perth in 1363 (RMS., I, 146) is probably the individual who witnessed a Perth charter of 1375 and may be the John Petscoti (without the 'de') who is mentioned as burgess of Perth in 1389 (Milne, p. 36, 38). Andrew de Petscoty was vicar of Perth in 1403 (Cambus., 167), and Andrew Petscotty witnessed a charter by the abbot of Scone to William Peblis in 1491 (Scon, p. 201).-Petscothy of Concardy, juror on inquisition in sheriffdom of Perth, 1478 (HP., IV, p. 21). John Petscottye was bailie at Scone, 1544 (Rollok, 17).
