There are places named Pittendriech in Midlothian, Fife, Kinross, Banff, Elgin, Perth, Kincardine, and Angus. Pittendreigh in Aberdeenshire, and in Stirlingshire is Pendreich. Pittendreich of that Ilk, an ancient family now extinct (Nisbet, I, p. 141). John de Pethindreich witnessed a charter of the lands of Lamebryde by Malcolm de Moravia to his son William de Moray, c. 1278 (REM., p. 461). Marion Pettendriech resigned the lands of Sornfawlache and Greenhill in the barony of Wigtoun in the reign of Robert III (RMS., I, App. II,1686), and John of Petyndregh was master of the ship la Katerine of Edinburgh, 1410 (Bain, IV, 794). William Peddendreycht in Inverness, 1568 (Rec. Inv., I, p. 165). Petindrech 1413, Pettindrecht 1488, Petyndricht 1576.
