Or De Clarefai, a branch of the house of Fitz-William, deriving from Paul Fitz-William de Plumtre, living 1285, son of William Fitz-Thomas, whose father, Thomas de Plumtre, or Fitz-William of Plumtre and Sprotboro, was son of William Fitz-William, son of Albreda de Insures. (See Fitz-William.) Thomas de Plumtre, or Fitz-William, 13th cent., held Plumtre, Normanton, Stanton, Keyworth, Rutingdon, Riseley, and Clipstone, Notts, by the service of half a knight’s fee, from the Countess of Eu (Testa de Neville, 7).
