Pinder has been a characteristic name of Notts and Lincolnshire for six centuries, and occurs in both counties as Le Pinder in the reign of Edward I. (H. R.). In the 17th century there were several Notts freeholders named Pinder, residing at Awkley, Misson, Akering, and other places (Harl.). At present they are mostly to be found around Newark, and are still represented at Misson.
