From Prestwick in the district of Kyle, Ayrshire. Bartramus de Prestwyc witnessed the confirmation of the church of Cragyn in Kyle to the monastery of Paisley, c. 1272 (RMP., p. 233). John de Presteuuyc, a poor clerk of the diocese of Glasgow, was to have a benefice in the gift of the abbot of Dunfermline in 1344 (Pap. Pet., I, p. 34). In 1375 John of Prestwych, son and heir of Mariot of Garrechel, sold to Colin Cambale half of the island of Insalte (Inishail) in the barony of Lochaw (OPS., II, p. 130). The land of William de Prestwyk "infra burgum nostrum de Hadyngtona" is mentioned in 1373 (RMS., I, 449), and Thomas de Priestwik was a burgess of Glasgow in 1480 (LCD., p. 255).
