Most probably a variant of Pratt, which see. John Pret, groom of Adam de Liberatione, 1259 (Bain, I, 2175; APS., I, p. 98). Robert Pret was admitted burgess of Aberdeen, 1462 (NSCM., I, p. 17). George Prett in Baithill, parish of Lesmahago, 1678, and five more of the name in record (Lanark CR.). Agnes Prett petitioned for the arrest of her husband j murderer, 1689 (RPC., 3. ser. XIV, p. 587), and William Prett appears in Dykeheads, Lanark, 1711 (Minutes, p. 114).
