i) Bapt. Ap-Richard (Welsh), i.e. the son of Richard. Just as Richard is met by the harder Rickard, so is the Welsh Prichard met by the harder Prickard (q.v). And just as Pritchard or Prichard became corrupted into Pritchett and Pritchitt, so also did Prickard become corrupted into Prickett and Prickitt. The origin is thus simple enough.
