John dictus Pride (Prid' or Pryde), burgess of Renfrew, appears several times as a charter witness between 1272 and 1294 (RMP., p. 65, 96,103; Leoenax, p. 15, 16). He is probably the Johan of the County of Lanark who rendered homage in 1296. His seal bears a lacertine device and S' Johanis Prid (Bain, II, p. 186,204). Alexander Pryd was member of assize at Cupar in 1521 (SCBF., p. 222), Robert Pryde was bailie of Cupar in 1567 (RPC., I, p. 583), and Euphania Pryd was retoured heir of John Pryd, brasiator, citizen of St. Andrews, 1650 (Retours, Fife, 793).
