Ancient surname from Burgos, and found in Soria, Castile, Santander, Vizcaya, Aragon and Valencia. Name of 50 villages in Spain. Derived from latin "quintinus," equivalent to English surname Quintin. Means country house.

A Basque word formed with an added "q" to the word "inza" and the suffix "-ana" referring to a large pasture.

Basque name from Sopuerta, political subdivision of Valmaseda (Vizcaya). Later spread to whole Peninsula. One branch went from Burgos to Canary Islands.
