App.), Alexander Ragg was bailie of Aberdeen, 1697 (SCM., V, p. 362), and Janet Ragg resident there, 1750 (Aberdeen CR.). Ragg and Wragg are typical Yorkshire surnames, probably from ODan. pers. name Wraghi, whence the placename Wragbi in the West Riding.
