Stodart says (II, p. 366) the family of Reidheugh took their name from their lands near Comrie, Perthshire. There is also a Redheuch, now Reddoch, in Lanarkshire, and the place name occurs also in other parts of Scotland. John Reidheuche had charter of lands of Lochhouse in sheriffdom of Linlithgow in reign of David 11 (RMS., I, App. II, 1206), and Andrew Reidheuch of Quarrel, Stirlingshire, is in record, 1462. Robert Redehuch held the alter of Holy Rood of Stirling, 1478 (SBR., p. 264). James Reidheuch, burgess of Stirling, 1481 (Cambus., 211) is probably James Redeheuche, burgess of Stirling, who had a grant of the lands of Tulichiddill, Culturagane, etc., 1502 (RMS., II, 2688). David Reidhuche was charter witness in Dunfermline, 1483 (RD., p. 372), and Patrick Redheuch was bailie of Stirling, 1491 (ER., X). Alexander Reddocht appears as witness in Linlithgow, 1533 (Johnsoun), Archibald Reidheuch died on the field of Pynkycleuch, 1547 (ER., XIX, p. 459), and John Reddocht attested a Glenurquhay bond of manrent in same year (BBT., p. 185). The laird of Cultirbragane, Alexander Reidheuch, appears in the Roll of Landlords, 1587 (APS., III, p. 466). Redeheuche 1502, Redhuche 1637; Redhagh, Reidhaugh, Redhuch.
