RERIK: A shortened form of Macrerik, which see. John Rerik had an annuity from the Grange of Spottis, Galloway, in 1460 (ER., VII, p. 7). Master Gilbert Rerik, commissioner of the king of Scots, who had a safe conduct to travel in England, 1471 (Bain, IV, 1395), was archdeacon of Glasgow, 1478 (REG., p. 437), and a charter witness, 1487 (CAC., I, p. 44). William Reryk was a charter witness, 1484 (LCD., p. 202), and a payment was made to Paul Rerik of Dalbety, 1561 (ER.. XIX, p. 152). Joannes Rerik was heir in lands of Arnegannoch, 1587 (Retours, Kirkcudbright, 408).
