A variant of Rickard (= Richard, which see). A family of this name were landed proprietors in Aberdeen in the seventeenth century. David Rickart was retoured heir of George Rickart, burgess of Aberdeen, 1651 (Retours, Aberdeen, 309). George Rickart was laird of Arnage or Arnodge, 1670, 1692 (Mair, Ellon, p. 130; Inquis., 7224). David Rickart of Rickartoun, 1746 (Aberdeen CR.).
