Rivett is a very old Norfolk name, belonging to an ancient family that held in the 14th century the property known as Rivett's Manor in West Newton. In 1570 John Rivet of Brandeston was patron of the livings of Moulton Magna and Wacton and owned property there; and Sir Thomas Rivet, of Norfolk, was a London merchant about the same time (Bl.) Thomas Revet was mayor of Lynn in 1649 (Bl.).
