As far as I know, I am currently the only Sarasty in North Carolina, along with my wife. I was born in the U.S. and family to me hasn't really been a big part of my life. I lack the family bond that majority of people around me grew up with. I've lived with this void through out my entire life and have accepted it as a rare gem in the U.S. It's rare for someone to pronounce/spell my last name correctly. I learned early on how to spell it, quite literally each time I tell anyone my last name. I have relatives in South America, but were not close. I do know of my brother who is a native to Colombia, South America and now lives in Orlando for about ten years now, but he's my half blood brother along with all my other siblings. Unfortunately, he is in the same situation. He has a son and that's the new generation. Family history as far as the "Sarasty" and where it derived from is unknown to me.
