Alexander Sawer was burgess of Glasgow, 1447 (LCD., p. 167), Andrew Sauer, juror on inquest at Prestwick, 1470 (Prestwick, p. 2), Patrick Saware was paid for sawing boards, 1510 (Rent. Dunk., p. 110), and David Sawar was on assize in Carrick in 1529 (RMS., III, 849). Thomas Sawar was friar preacher in St. Andrews, 1545 (Laing, 494), and Alexander Sawer was retoured heir of Alexander Sawer, his grandfather, in the 6d. land of Nethirhoillhous, Ayr, 1638 (Retours, Ayr, 336).
