Moreis Scobie in Balhaldie confessed in 1610 to practicing charming to cure 'seik folks' (Fergusson, Alexander flume). Letters of horning were issued against Andrew Scobie, 1611 (Pitfirrane, 459). Jean Scobie, sometime brewer in Coupar-Angus, 1727 (Dunkeld). The Sutherland Scobies are said to be descended from Rev. William Scobie who was licensed by the Presbytery of Strathbogie, 1727, and called by the Presbytery of Dornoch, 1728 (Fasti, V, 7). Scobbie 1614.
