From Scroggie, a village in Perthshire. William Scrogy, curate, was one of the witnesses to a charter of 1464 (REA., I, p. 287). David Scroghe was one of an inquest held in the Canongaie of Edinburgh in 1561 (MCM., II, p. 289), and Alexander Scrogye was minister in Auld Aberdeen in 1533 (SCM., III, p. 93). Letters of horning were sent by Mr. John Schrogie in 1597 (Pollok, I, p. 188), and Robert Scroggy and William Scroggie of Aberdeenshire were among the Jacobites of the '45. Scroagie 1647, Scroggy 1630, Scroghie 1572, Schrogie 1600.
