(English) belonging to Seabrook (Bucks), early 17th cent. Seabrooke—the Lake-Brook [Old English sǽ, lake, sea+ bróc, brook] Early spellings are lacking; but there do not seem to be any grounds for assuming here that ‘Sea-’ is for ‘ Sheep ’ as appears to be the case with Seabridge, Staffs.
I find no locality so called. It may, possibly, be a corruption of Sebright.

Seabrook is also an Essex name, but it has been long established in Herts. Edward Sebrok was a freeholder of Hitchin in the reign of Elizabeth (Cus.). The name of Edward Seabrook figures in the list of the mayors of St. Albans as mayor for 1687, 1701, and 1729 (Cl.). homas and William Seabrooke held land of the Dean of Westminster in Wheathampstead in 1705 (Cus.). In the middle of last century there was a gentle family of Seabrook at St. Peter's (Cus.). The name is still in St. Albans and Wheathampstead.
