There is an old Stirling family of this name which may be descended from William Servatur (or le Servetur), burgess of Stirling, who rendered homage, 1296. His seal bears Virgin and Child, S' Wll'i Servatoris (Bain, II, p. 197,199, 218,552). Alisaundre Servays of Roxburghshire also rendered homage, 1296 (ibid., p. 199). Robert Service, servant to the notary of Ayr, 1662 (Hunter, p. 61), Dorritie Service in Stitchill, 1673 (Stifchill, p. 68).
