Com. Cantab.; Shelford, Notts, was Shelford, a.d. 1310-11, and Schelford, a.d. 1316-17; a Sheldeford occurs in the Charter-Rolls for Leicestershire, a.d. 1304; the Sceldeford and Scealdeford of an Essex charter a.d. 1062 is now Shalford.
