'of the Side-bottom,' probably the side of the hollow, or bottom, as was the term in Yorkshire, Lancashire, and Cheshire, where most of the Ramsbottoms, Higginbothams, Sc., spring from; v. Botham. Like Higginbotham, Sidebotham springs from the immediate neighbourhood of Stockport.
