Johannes Seleman held a tenement in Edinburgh, 1468 (Neubotle, p. 274).
SILLIMAN: The Anglo-Saxon syl, or sul, a plough, is retained in the Wiltshire provincialism sylla. Hence Silliman is probably ploughman.
