SCALL: This surname appears frequently in Brechin records from fourteenth to sixteenth century. Nicholas Scall, witness in Brechin, 1364, and another Nicholas in 1448 (REB., I, 20,117). Robert Skal held a land in Montrose, 1431 (ibid., II, 35). The lands of John Scall in Brechin are mentioned in 1485, and again in 1499 (ibid., II, 120,148). Walter Skall who witnessed a bond of manrent in 1497 (SCM., IV, p. 190) may be Walter Scall who held land in Brechin in 1512 (REB., II, 197). Skeill 1529.
